Designer Rachel Roy–clad in her own sexy cutout white jumpsuit–arrived for the ceremony with model Jessica Hart. The 27-year-old Australian beauty also sported cutouts, which included Roy’s white bodysuit and a laser cut taupe pencil skirt. She completed the daring beachy look with loose golden waves, smoky eyes, stacked black diamond bracelets, a gold clutch and brown leather pointed toe pumps.
Ireland Baldwin, the 17-year-old daughter of actors Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger, arrived for the gala as a guest of designer David Meister. The 6-foot-2 model stood tall in a gorgeous David Meister Signature custom draped red jersey evening gown. Between the plunging neck smooth fit and her cascading blonde waves, this reminded me of the stunning moment Sophia Bush had last year in orange. Ireland completed her look with an all-American touch–bright blue Halston Heritage sandals!
Karlie Kloss also opted for the plunging neckline. The 20-year-old model wore a custom-made Cushnie et Ochs gown, which features a black patent cutout form-fitting bodice and a smooth silk floor-length skirt. I really liked the top of the dress, but I think this would be better suited as a knee-length streamlined design. A side-parted mane and dark glitter clutch completed her look.
Hilary Rhoda played with colorblock draping in a Helmut Lang scuba-cut cocktail dress. I love the overlapping of blac k and white panels. She wore her long dark hair back to show off the neckline of the dress while also sporting some bold and colorful ornate jewelry. A matte red lip, white clutch and black “Lance” sandals by Jimmy Choo completed her CFDA look.
Joan Smalls was another gorgeous model at the CFDA Awards in her strapless long white Givenchy dress with lace underlay embroidery and a thick panel along the hem. Joan wore her hair tightly pulled back, which allowed for focus to her on her beautiful sharp features and sparkling short necklace. White sandals completed her look.
“Girls” star Jemima Kirke was one of my least-fashion-favorites at the CFDA Awards this year. Not only was her outfit frumpy–it just looked like a black bathing suit underneath a see-through mumu. The braids throughout her hair was a fun idea, but it just looked messy. The only thing I liked about this was her collection of Pamela Love jewelry.
I’m normally a huge fan of jumpsuits–especially when they’re tuxedo inspired, but I can’t call myself a fan of Greta Gerwig‘s CFDA look. The “Frances Ha” actress wore a white Band of Outsiders tux one-piece while she posed on the black carpet with BOF designer Scott Sternberg. The actual design is cool, but the baggy fit on Greta isn’t. On top of that, her side parted hairstyle and pale makeup palette was aging and the nude pumps were boring. A gold Roger Vivier clutch finished this off.
Linda Cardellini was one of Minkoff’s CFDA “dates”. The “Mad Men” actress wore the designer’s Fall 2013 black “Logan” leather dress with ponte paneling. Linda wore her chocolate tresses twisted up to show off her pretty gold and jade statement earrings, and then completed the look with cool black satin embellished platform sandals and a Rebecca Minkoff “Vincent” minaudière.
Jessica Stam was another ‘Minkette’ wearing a custom-made Rebecca Minkoff “Comet” yellow mini peplum cocktail dress. The dress was fun, but Jessica’s neon colorblock platform sandals, perspex Charlotte Olympia clutch with a hot pink pounch, and bright statement jewelry to match really tied it all together for one vibrant look. The only thing I wasn’t feeling was that strange array of golden knots that were going on with her hair
World Cup alpine ski racer Lindsey Vonn showed off her toned athletic figure in a cream-colored v-neck Cynthia Rowley dress with pastel printed panels along the plunging neckline and empire waist. I liked the simplicity of this, and Lindsey’s soft makeup and wavy hair along with her patent strappy sandals were the perfect accents.
